TRIBE, based on the fundamental value that respects all children and young peoples’ capacity to investigate, experiment and develop curiosity in themselves and the world around them.
TRIBE Forest Kids creates a retreat where children, particularly in the early years, can freely (without competition, judgement or expectation) demonstrate their creativity, feed their instinctive inquisitiveness and imagination, stimulate their mind through self-discovery, test their boundaries, manage risk, explore their emotions, physicality and forge healthy relationships.
Children can just ‘be’, allowing them to inhale the beauty and wonder of nature, it gives them open-ended time to explore what they are feeling and allows the feeling of belonging to a community (or tribe).
TRIBE is child-led where play, fun, mud-cookies and fire popped-corn is the curriculum of the day.
Directions and quick-guide notes
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Rousebarn+Ln,+Croxley+Green,+Rickmansworth+WD3+3RL When you come down Litte Green Lane follow it down to the end of the road until it meet Rousebarn Lane, take Rousebarn Lane on the left and follow all the way into the woodlands. There is a carpark at the end of the road. Please note - if you look on the map, Rousebarn lane does follow all the way through to Chandlers Cross, or atleast it appears so - there is a barrier half-way down the road so cars cannot proceed through to Chandlers Cross' side of Rousebarn Lane. However, here is also a carpark on the other side of the barrier for people coming from Bovingdon direction.
Forest School welcomes all ages. Our youngest is 20 months and the oldest is 10 years. However, the majority ages are 3 to 7.
Parents participate in Tribe Forest Kids as it is a family event. Even grandparents join us.
Soon parents can participate in spoon carving.
We will start to walk down to our site promptly at 11:00am so I encourage parents to arrive at 10.45am for registration.
The session will last 2 hours.
The cost will be £10 per child. Payment will be cash on the day.
Registration at the meeting point will involve producing your completed Waiver Liability Form. I always have a few extra forms, but it makes it more efficient if you are able to complete the form before. The Liability Form you will find if you scroll down or it is located under the INFORMATION tab on this website .
Forest school is not forest school without the enchanting smell of burning wood, so I will start to introduce camp fire to Tribe so that parents and children can enjoy a warm cup of chocolate. I have an array of tea for tea-lovers, Pukka, Twinning’s or Pickwick. Parents are very much part of TRIBE so they may want to participate in making fire.I will have a few mugs with me, but I recommend parents to pack a mug or 2 into their Tribe kit. I will provide whole-milk but welcome parents to bring a flask of milk of their own.Further down the line I might even have the children prepare vegetables from my allotment to make a hearty woodland soup.
There is also information on recommended clothing under the Informatation Tab. It is starting to cool down, so layers and a good waterproof jacket and pants are highly recommended. Extra socks always a welcome idea.
You will also find directions to get to the location under the Information Tab, called Site 1 Dell. We meet there for 10.45am
Try to park as close as possible to other cars to allow more capacity particularly over the weekend at the car park. Carpooling where possible is a great help and considerate for other public users of the woodland Car park.
Tribe is super popular with daddies, so most of the time both parents attend.
Please pack a snack pack for yourself and your children. Drinking water or juice is recommended. At the last session parents brought along some brioches or pitta so that they should have lunch from the fire. This I welcome, since the fire will be lit. It also goes without saying: jumbo marshmallows.
I have campfire rules which I will reiterate at the beginning of the session to ensure a safe environment for all.
To book, you just need to email me the names of the children and the date you wish to attend at firstname.lastname@example.org
Look forward to hearing from you Sandy 07932763232
